in moments like this i always get reminded of how grateful i am for the beautiful souls i have met along the way in this journey called life, 23 years of it; the people who bring out the best in me; the ones i can always learn from; the ones i am on a journey of growth together with, the ones who are nurturing and good for my soul, my chosen family, my friends.
as an expatriate living in canberra i lose count of the number of people who have come and go. and as i grow older i’ve realised and accepted the fact that the majority of things we come across in life don't actually last forever. i believe that the universe decides to give you this set of people in this particular timeframe and everyone enters your life with/for a purpose. they might stay, they might not, and that is okay. i always try to cherish every single moment i spend with my friends, knowing that there's just so much that life can guarantee. i've learnt how to enjoy my life and the company of my friends as is and to live in the moment. not asking for less or for more.
i also think that humans are dynamic beings. we grow constantly and we all do that in our own pace. some people you meet will grow through different stages of life with you together - if you're one of those, you're lucky. some will outgrow you and you will outgrow some. life is too short to be nourishing something that isn't meant to be, and in this moment a break is much needed. you have to give yourself and the other person a healthy room to grow on all your own.
afterall the purest form of love is understanding that someone isn't meant to be in your life anymore but you wish them nothing but the best, that you'd want to see their wins in life.
to all my friends i love you with all my heart and you're so lucky that the blessing life decides to give you with comes in a form of....me, and my love!
sincerely yours
S
